Remove wheel, axle nut, brake caliper / hang out of the way, remove disk, remove 3 bolts holding hub in place, remove hub.

Install new Hub assembly, reverse previous steps.

How much should this cost because I’m getting quotes for $300 for just the front two? Im supplying the assemblies and its non-abs (apparently if ABS it makes the job significantly harder.. but the shops asked if it was ABS or not).

Something tells me I just need to go rent a torque wrench from Autozone and knock it out one of these mornings.

Bonus points if you can guess my bolt pattern* without looking it up.

Ken got it with 5x100

By the single glove left at the side of the bar, I’m assuming they lost an arm.

Rust prone region of the world? That makes all the difference in the world for these kinds of things.

Virginia Beach but far enough from the beach. Nothing is too rust encrusted or fused together.

That was an amazingly entertaining read. I was gonna tell the OP about the axle nut being a royal pain but it seems you got that covered.

I’m now having flashbacks to one of those *exact nuts* I tried to help someone with. Ended up with 4’+ of leverage on the thing and it wouldn’t budge a fraction.

Wouldn’t PB blaster and a hammer knock or two help quite a bit?

I’d be surprised if he hadn’t given it some love taps already, but he does mention a PB soak at the start.

Yah, I went over it again and saw that. Some heat would have helped. Heat it and beat it.

What car, is it GM? It looks fairly similar to mine. I did my front bearings last year. It was pretty simple, but the hub bolts are on the back side of the hub. Which means you have to work inside the wheel well and squeeze your wrench in between the knuckle and the CV joint. You need will need an extension, and the right size wrench. Too long and it does not fit in the wheel well, too short and you cannot get enough leverage to break it loose.

I left it sitting in penetrating oil for several days, do you have alternate transportation? The hub bolts have thread locker on them and were rusted in place. Even after the oil soak it was a pain to get them out (thus the need for leverage.) Everything was rusted, after I got the bolts off, I had to use a cold chisel to pull the hub off the knuckle.

Look on Youtube for video instructions. If you cannot find one specific to your vehicle this one is very good, and should be similar enough.

The only difference for ABS is a sensor wire coming out of the hub. You plug it into the connector on the vehicle. Very difficult.

That price is not terrible. Looking online, it seems to be 2-4 hours (for both bearings) depending on the car, but they might be accounting for time spend dealing with rusted components.

06 Sebring Vert

I watched this video right here which makes it look plenty easy and I was there when we got the back hubs off as well, didn’t look too bad. (02 sedan so mechanically identical enough to mine)

Yeah you’ll do fine, it’s really... wait, ABS was an option on the 2006 Sebring?!? Are...are you sure?

Actually, I have dealt with Chrysler. I have never driven a car or truck without ABS, but I would totally believe that it was optional on a Chrysler in 2006 :/

Yeah, 3500 lb car without abs. Mines a touring, Limited had ABS.

Tires have been locked up at least twice now. scared the hell out of me.

Actually worse was when I hit the brakes in the Uplander (w/abs) and experienced it for the first time. It was a Wtf was that?! moment.
